Jose Luis Ramirez Hinojosa

He was born circa 1757. His father was Jose Cristobal Ramirez, and his mother was Maria Matiana Hinojosa. His father owned land in Porción 17, Revilla, Zapata County. In 1750, he lived in Camargo. The census recorded that he was the son of a settler, español, and 8 years old. His household had 9 people, and they did not receive government aid to move to the colony. In 1784 he was granted porcion 5, not one of the original porciones because it had been considered too dangerous due to frequent Indian attacks. The community of Ramireño is situated on this grant, having been relocated two miles from its original location which was flooded when the Falcon Dam was built.

Marriage

He married Bacilia Martinez, daughter of Jose Bartolome Martinez and Maria Gertrudis Garcia in 1782 in Revilla. He was 25 years old, and the bride was 18 years old. She owned land in Porción 5, Revilla, Zapata County, Texas.

Children

Manuel Ramirez, born 1799. He owned land in Porción 5, Revilla, Zapata County, Texas, La Laguna de los Venados grant, Zapata County. He died in 1882. He was 83 years old.

Land Ownership

In 1784, as the son of a primitivo poblador, he was granted Revilla 5 by the King of Spain.
