Revilla 5

Original Grantee: Jose Luis Ramirez Hinojosa

located five miles southeast of the current town of San Ygnacio on the east side of the Rio Grande channel and north of Arroyo Burro. George states that Jose Luis Ramirez and Basilia Martinez moved to the site and established a settlement in 1810, but Revilla padrones show Luis & Basilia living at a "rancho poblado" with 4 daughters in 1791. Manuel Ramirez Martinez (b.1799 d.1882) was captured near the site by Comanches in 1819; he was returned ca.1822 after ransom was paid in Louisiana.

In 1784, as the son of a primitivo poblador, Jose Luis Ramirez Hinojosa was granted Revilla 5 by the King of Spain.

In 1831, as the wife of original grantee, Basilia Martinez inherited Revilla 5.

In 1852, as the son of the original grantee, Manuel Ramirez applied for confirmation Revilla 5 from the State of Texas. Witnesses Antonio Garza, Jose Maria Gutierrez prove occupation and cultivation since first granted.
