Located on Porción 5, Revilla, Zapata County, Texas. Original Grantee: Jose Luis Ramirez Hinojosa
The porción was granted in 1784 to José Luis Ramírez, one of six tracts distributed by order of Governor Diego de Lasaga. José Luis Ramírez and his wife Basilia Martínez moved to the site and estabished a settlement in 1810. Their son Manuel Ramírez Martínez (1799-1882) was captured near the site by Comanches in 1819; he was returned circa 1822 after ransom was paid in Louisiana. There was a stone house at the site.W. Ildefonso Ramirez died on 10 Feb 1852 in Mier (Ramireño ranch). Cause of death: killed by Indians. Because he came from a family of original settlers, he had the right to be buried in the chapel. Source: link.
