He was born circa 1798. His father was Santiago Gonzalez, and his mother was Maria Gertrudis Barrera.
He married Faustina Barrera, daughter of Jose Angel Barrera and Maria Matiana Moreno. It was her second marriage.

In 1836, he was granted Las Cuevitas by the State of Tamaulipas.
He left one-half of Las Cuevitas to Patricia Gonzalez, the daughter of the original grantee, Victoriano Gonzalez.
In 1836, he sold one-half of Las Cuevitas to Santos Barrera, the brother-in-law of the original grantee. Though Victoriano Gonzalez was the original grantee, his brother-in-law Santos Barrera had jointly settled the tract and immediately received half of the grant.
