His heirs purchased one-half of Las Cuevitas from Patricia Gonzalez. She conveyed her half of the tract to the heirs of Santos Barrera.
In 1836, as the brother-in-law of the original grantee, he purchased one-half of Las Cuevitas from Victoriano Gonzalez. Though Victoriano Gonzalez was the original grantee, his brother-in-law Santos Barrera had jointly settled the tract and immediately received half of the grant.
In 1852, he applied for confirmation one-half of Las Cuevitas from the State of Texas. Santos Barrera applied for confimation in the name of Victoriano Gonzalez's daughter Patricia Gonzalez, who owned half the tract, and himself, who owned the other half.
