Original Grantee: Gervacio Hinojosa
During the the Visita General of 1767 the surveyors found that porciones 7 & 8 contained existing ranches located close to each other. In order to accommodate settlers who had already made improvements, the surveyors split the regular tract into two long narrow porciones.
In 1767, as the son of a primitivo poblador, Gervacio Hinojosa was granted Mier 8 by the King of Spain. Gervacio Hinojosa was the son of Diego Hinojosa, who died prior to 1750 (it is unclear whether his father was a settler). His mother, Ana Josefa de la Garza remarried Francisco Guerra and they moved to Camargo by 1750. In 1767 there was an improved estancia at the site.
