Original Grantee: Maria Bartola Peña
In 1768, as the widow of a primitivo poblador, Maria Bartola Peña was granted Mier 61 by the King of Spain. There was a farm plot at the site.
In 1852, as a great-grandson of the original grantee, Jose Antonio Canales applied for confirmation Mier 61 from the State of Texas.
