Juan Fernandez de Castro

He was born circa 1570. Land holdings in Nuevo Leon mentioned in March 1609. *In April 1535 Hernando de Castro and Juan de Castro, brothers, sons of Hernando de Castro and Teresa de Figueroa, natives of Cacerez, were given passes in Sevilla to the New World. In 1575 Hernando de Castro or Hernando Fernandez de Castro (relation?), Portugese, was accused that he "on holy Thursdays, would shut himself up in his habitation, in the ranch of Sain, and he would arm himself with sword in hand, and with it, he would cause many stabbings of the crucifix. Then he would rest and sit down on a chair, so as to resume throwing the sword at the crucifix"(Raphael, p.119). Hernando or Juan was either a father or grandfather of Juan Fernandez de Castro according to Duaine (p.162) There was a Juan Fernandez de Castro "El Mozo" noted in 1619, which could be either this one or his son.

He married Mayor de Renteria, daughter of Martin de Renteria.
