Juan Jose Benavides Gutierrez was born circa 1707 in Cerralvo, the son of Juan Jose Baez de Benavides Vela and Clara Maria Gutierrez de Lara Renteria.

He married Jacoba (Ana) Garcia.

Juan Jose Benavides was born circa 1747.

In 1767, as a primitivo poblador, he was granted Mier 77 by the King of Spain.

In 1782, he lived at Santa Gertrudis. He was the ranch owner. The church census recorded that he was married, español, and 74 years old. The priest referred to him with the title Don. His household included 5 people:
