He was born circa 1707 in Cerralvo. His father was Juan Jose Baez de Benavides Vela, and his mother was Clara Maria Gutierrez de Lara Renteria. In 1750, he lived in Camargo. The census recorded that he was the head of a household, and español. His household had 4 people, and they did not receive government aid to move to the colony. In 1782, he lived in Santa Gertrudis / San Jose de la Rinconada in household number 81. The church census recorded that he was married, español, and 74 years old. His household included 5 people. He died on 26 Feb 1787. He was 80 years old. He died at Rancho Santa Gertrudis (Escobares).
