He married Maria Josefa Peña, daughter of Jose Jacinto de la Peña and Ana Maria Guajardo. Her mother owned Mier 48 grant.
Children
Maria Antonia Margarita Vela, born 1753. She married Jose Antonio Bazan, son of Jose Bazan and Ana Maria Salinas in 1770 in Mier.
Juan de Dios Vela, born 1756. He married Guadalupe Hinojosa, daughter of Diego Hinojosa and Maria Zaragoza Lopez on 27 Sep 1784 in Mier. Their padrino was Dn Jose Antonio Guerra (Dn), and their madrina was Da Maria Chapa (Da, wife).
