In 1767, as an antiguo poblador, Joaquin Garcia was granted Mier 62 by the King of Spain. There was an improvement at the site in 1767.

In 1851, as the grandson of the original grantee, Luciano Garcia Izaguirre applied for confirmation of Mier 62 from the State of Texas.
