In 1809 Alejandro Farias was granted San Jose by the King of Spain.

In 1835 Pedro de la Garza Treviño purchased San Jose from Alejandro Farias for 500 pesos.

In 1852 the heirs of Pedro de la Garza Treviño applied for confirmation of San Jose from the State of Texas. The original title was lost in a shipwreck.
