In 1767, as a primitivo poblador, Manuel Hinojosa was granted Mier 4 by the King of Spain. Manuel Hinojosa was one of the early ranchers at Paso de Cantaro, when it was part of the Almondos estate, in the 1730s-40s. He was born around 1695 and probably died soon after the distribution of porciones. In 1767 there was an improved estancia at the site.
