Original Grantee: Jose Simon Hinojosa
Possession of the tract began many years prior to 1835, but was periodically abandonded during incursions by hostile Indians. The tract was denounced in 1830-1832 and surveyed by Antonio Canales in 1835 (Seabury p.497 suggests that it was previously surveyed in 1830 by Jose Antonio Gutierrez de Lara).
In 1835, Jose Simon Hinojosa was granted Las Noriacitas by the State of Tamaulipas.
Jose Maria Benavides inherited Las Noriacitas.
