Nicolas Jose Chapa

He was born circa 1740. His father was Jose Miguel Chapa, and his mother was Ana Maria Garcia. In 1750, he lived in Camargo. The census recorded that he was the stepson of a settler, español, and 10 years old. His household had 7 people, and they received government aid to move to the colony.

Marriage

He married Maria Josefa Lopez, daughter of Juan Bautista Lopez and Josefa Bermudez. Her father owned land in Porción 32, Camargo.

Children

Ana Maria Chapa. She married Jose Luis de la Garza, son of Santiago de la Garza and Juliana Rodriguez. He owned land in Porción 20, Camargo.

Land Ownership

In 1767, as an antiguo poblador, he was granted Camargo 22 by the King of Spain. There was an improved rancho at the site.
