He married Maria Ines Vela, daughter of Baltazar Vela and Maria Martinez. Her mother owned land in Porción 83, Camargo.

In 1767, as an antiguo poblador, he was granted Camargo 85 by the King of Spain. Nicolas Vela took possession on his behalf.
