In 1809 Diego Hinojosa settled at San Rafael de los Encinos.

In 1835 Diego Hinojosa was granted San Rafael de los Encinos by the State of Tamaulipas.

As the father of the original grantee, Jose Marcelo Hinojosa owned San Rafael de los Encinos by purchase from Diego Hinojosa.

Rafael Hinojosa inherited San Rafael de los Encinos from Jose Marcelo Hinojosa.

In 1852 Rafael Hinojosa applied for confirmation of San Rafael de los Encinos from the State of Texas. Rafael Hinojosa applied to the Bourland and Miller commission on behalf of himself and other heirs of Marcelo Hinojosa and Santos Garcia.
