Mier 76

In 1767, as the husband of an antigua pobaldora, Juan [Antonio] Miguel Ramirez was granted Mier 76 by the King of Spain. His wife, Maria Rita Lopez (1882), came to Camargo and then Mier with her first husband, Juan Bautista Chapa. The family lived at neighboring Rancho Santa Gertrudis (porcion 77). On the death of OG Ramirez the land was inherited half by his widow, Maria Rita Lopez (sister of Luis Lopez of porcion 3), and half by his adoped son, Jose Maria Escobar (612). Escobar bought the other half from his stepmother , who was also the mother (by her first husband) of Escobar's wife, Antonia Gertrudis Chapa. In 1851 the land belonged to Jose Pio Antonio Escobar (7995), Jose Maria's son.
