This was the site of a ford on the Rio Grande, and a ferry in the 19th c. The ranch was owned by Joaquin Garcia, original grantee of Mier porción 62.The ranch is located on the border of porciónes 63 & 64. Joaquin Garcia also owned a porción on the Mexican side of the river, likely 52, which was inherited by children of second wife, Petra Yzaguirre. There were ranches called Los Arrieros on both sides of the river. The principal one (at least in the 1780s church padrones) seems to have been those on the south side. In 1788 the ranch was called Casas Blancas. There is also an arroyo and a site called Casas Blancas on the N side of the river.
